"Old School" bloodline

Welcome to Argentineboas.com. This site is all about one of the most beautiful and unique snakes in the world, the Argentine boa. Here I will discuss their natural history, current laws pertaining to keeping them, captive breeding, and more. I just finished writing my second article breeding Argentine Boas . Enjoy it and feel free to contact me with comments or questions. Thanks!

Boa constrictor occidentalis is now considered to be critically endangered of becoming extinct in the wild. Sadly, I expect captive breeding to soon become the last bit of hope for this wonderful species. Reports state that most of their habitat has been destroyed so it is only a matter of time.

CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, also known as the Washington Convention) offers protection against international trade of the Argentine Boa. They are listed as Appendix One.

International protection applies to the import and export of the species and does not apply within the United States. No permit is needed to buy, sell or breed Argentine Boas within the United States.
